About the Opportunity

We are seeking suitably qualified and experienced Family Dispute Resolution Practitioners to join our existing team working within the Penrith Centre. This position requires the practitioner to be registered on the Australian Government Attorney General’s Department Register of Family Dispute Resolution Practitioners under the Family Law Act 1975 (see Family Dispute Resolution Practitioners Regulations 2008).

Family Dispute Resolution Practitioners provide a range of interventions to families that are experiencing conflict and are unable to reach agreement regarding arrangements in relation to children or resolving issues related to finances and property settlement.  Practice models used in the Centre include both Child Inclusive and Legally assisted FDR.

We have 2 positions available on a  1 year fixed term contract, working part time- 3 days per week or full time. We are flexible on the days of work, this will be discussed with the successful candidate.

The annual base salary range for this position is as given below:

$69,732 to $78,824 (for a full time role)

$41,839 to $47,294 (this role, working 3 days per week)

The hourly rate range is $35.76 to $40.42

In addition to the base salary, there is the employers contribution (9.5%) to superannuation, leave loading (17.5%) and we offer salary packaging

Actual salary will be negotiated with the successful candidate being dependent on their level of experience, training and qualifications.

The essential and desirable criteria / experience for this role are below and your application must demonstrate competencies in them:

  • Registered on the Australian Government Attorney General’s Department Register of Family Dispute Resolution Practitioners under the Family Law Act 1975;
  • A tertiary background in law, social sciences, social work or dispute resolution
  • Demonstrated high level of skills in family dispute resolutions, including assessments and and mediation interventions;
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a child focused approach;
  • Knowledge of issues facing separating families;

Desirable 

  • Clinical experience working with parents and children;
  • Knowledge of mental health issues;
  • Experience in delivering adult education programs and group facilitation;
  • Experience in property mediation;
  • Experience with clients from Culturally and Linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds;
  • Fluency in community language other than English
